Learning Based on Play
Preschoolers explore the multi-acre campus, engaging in digging, playing, running, making mud pies in the outdoor play kitchens, planting seeds, watering and taking care of plants, picking fruits and vegetables, doing a wide variety of art projects, interacting with children younger and older- and therefore learning new skills every day. Each day will include an adventure quest where preschoolers can choose to engage in a treasure hunt, nature hike, forest excursion, scavenger hunt or scientific exploration.
One number, one letter and one color will be focused on each day with the emphasis on getting preschoolers familiar with the concepts in a very easy going environment based primarily on play and exploration.
The preschool campus is a separate 5 acre fenced section of the farm with permaculture gardens, a greenhouse and hundreds of papaya and banana trees. Children will be outside daily and are expected to dress appropriately for rainy weather (rain coat, pants & boots which can be stored overnight in their cubbies). Gazebos and various other covered areas are available to children for doing art projects and other activities when it is raining, however the majority of the child’s time will be spent outside. Beautiful Maui’s temperature ranges from 65 degrees F to 80 degrees F year round, so it is always warm enough to be outside.

Creating a culture of inclusion, empathy, kindness, generosity, and love is our most important priority at Earthy Academy. When our culture feels like everyone is family, and we all take care of each other- then all other learning aspects fall into place. We use story to paint a deep and impactful image of the journey each child is embarking upon when entering Earthy Academy. They are the hero, on a hero’s journey- and we are here to only be the guide.
This is a journey of self discovery as much as it is of self-growth. Your child will become a part of something bigger than him/herself and you will be amazed at how they will rise to the occasion.
